Fix Outlook meetings that are an hour off after the BC time change
Since Nov 1, 2026, British Columbia adopted permanent daylight time (UTC-7) and did not turn its clocks back. Outlook and Teams meetings you booked before your PC or phone got the new time zone can show an hour away from where you booked them. This app scans your calendar, shows each affected meeting before and after, and fixes them.

What changed in British Columbia
British Columbia now uses (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia) (Windows time zone ID British Columbia Standard Time) all year. The US still fell back on Nov 1 and springs forward on March 14, 2027, so the old shared zones – Pacific Time (US & Canada), now UTC-8 – are now an hour behind British Columbia in winter.
The East Kootenay (Cranbrook, Fernie) is on UTC-6 and uses the Alberta zone. Some Mac clients still label BC as UTC-08:00 even when the time is right.
Why your meetings are an hour off
An Outlook event stores a local time plus the time zone it was booked in. Events booked before the Windows update carry the old US zone, and after Nov 1 Exchange applies the US fall-back to them. Existing events do not migrate on their own, and only the organizer can change an event’s time zone.
What this app does
- Scans the events in your own Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com calendar that are stored in a US-rules zone, from Nov 1, 2026 on.
- Shows the time before and after for each one, so you confirm before anything changes.
- Fixes the meetings you organize, including recurring meetings, and lets you undo for 30 days.
- Lists meetings you were only invited to, with a ready-to-send email to each organizer.
The first 10 events are free, then it is a one-time $5.99 CAD for every event in your account. See what it cannot do.

Frequently asked questions
Why are my Outlook meetings showing an hour late after the time change?
Events you booked before the Windows update are stamped with a US time zone such as Pacific Standard Time. On Nov 1, 2026 the US fell back an hour but British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba did not, so those events now land an hour away from where you booked them. Existing events do not move to the new zone by themselves.
Will Outlook fix my meetings automatically?
No. Microsoft’s guidance says existing events are not migrated automatically and that only the organizer can change an event’s time zone. Microsoft’s free Exchange Online cmdlet covers single (non-recurring) meetings only and has to be run by an administrator.
Do I need to update meetings I was invited to?
You cannot fix those yourself, because only the organizer can change a meeting’s time zone. The app lists the meetings you were invited to and prepares a ready-to-send email asking each organizer to fix theirs.
Why does Outlook on Mac or iPhone show a different time than Outlook on the web?
Clients treat the stored time zone differently: classic Outlook follows the Windows zone, while new Outlook for Mac and Outlook for iOS have been reported to show Alberta and BC events an hour off. Correcting the time zone stored on the event in your mailbox fixes it for every app that reads that mailbox.
How much does it cost?
The first 10 events you fix are free. After that it is a one-time $5.99 CAD for every event in your account. There is no subscription.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Every change is logged with the event ID and the old and new times, and you can undo it for 30 days.
